Tuesday Spotlight: Brenna's Blitherings Scrapbook Layout

There were a bunch of fun ideas shared during last week's Thursday Link-Up Party! After checking out all of them, I decided to spotlight Brenna from Brenna's Blitherings.

I really liked how Brenna's scrapbook pages were so creative. Not only does she put pictures on her layouts, she puts character and fun into them. Her pages are bright, vibrant, and fun to look at. She also pays special attention to the little details. Everything matters and has a purpose, and yet they are not cluttered. Simply wonderful. I know that I have been inspired by her.

Brenna is a registered nurse, wife, sister, daughter, and mother of one beautiful girl.  She resides in Calgary, Canada, where it is cold in the winter and warm in the summer.  She loves the weather and the changing seasons.  She is an avid scrapbooker, but has only recently stepped into the world of cardmaking and blogging.  Blogging is incredibly fun and has opened her eyes to so many tips, tools and products (oh the products!!!!) that she had no idea about.  It has also drastically increased her wishlist and to-do list!  She is constantly scrapbooking in her spare time with her sister who is also an avid scrapbooker.

Now a little bit from Brenna. Take it away Brenna!

The project I created is a birthday layout for my daughter who is turning one in February.

I started with my background paper which had a really cute cupcake on it that I really wanted to include in my page.  I used an EK success cupcake border punch and glued that to the top page for a border.  I then made a  5x7 photo mat (the mat is cut a 1/4 inch larger than the photo size). The second one is for a 4x5 photo, but I wanted to have some journaling space so I cut that mat 8 inches long and 5 1/2 inches wide and then used a flowered/scalloped edge recollections punch on the edge.  The inner mat I cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/4 for the photo.  I tied some ribbon on the 5x7 mat.  I used the Cuttin' Up cartridge for the the title (Let's Party). I cut it at 4 inches.  The seal and ball were cut at 3 inches from Create a Critter cartridge.  I put some stickles on the eyes and mouth of the beach ball (kind of hard to tell though).

Before I glued my mats down I used one of my Inkadinkadoo Flourish stamps and used Versamark to heat emboss with a turqouise ranger embossing powder in between the mat and the cupcake.  I also used a birthday candle stamp that said "wish." I embossed that with turquoise on pink paper and cut it out.  I used pop dots to have it pop from the page a bit and added it to the cupcake.  I then glued everything down and decided I needed something more in between the mats, so I added some prima flowers with some fun brads in the middle.  I also added a 100% Sweet stamp in the journaling space.

Recipe:

Holly Mccaig Sweet cakes collection paper, Recollections orange and pink cardstock, DCWV Glitter Cardstock, Prima orange and pink flowers, recollections Valentines brads, EK Success cupcake border punch, recollections flower border punch, G studio "100% Sweet" stamp, black tsukineko ink, inkadinkadoo flourish stamps, turqouise ranger embossing powder, blue and green ribbon, Create a Critter Cartridge, Birthday Stamps (brand unkown as I don't have packaging anymore), Cuttin' up Cartridge for saying, pop dots to make candles stand out on cupcake, stickles for eyes and mouth of beach ball.

It was a simple layout but made with some really fun colours.
