Flower Clip Holder

Happy Happy Friday Everyone!!

WOW!  This week as flown and guess what?!  I didn't have to fly anywhere this weekend!  We get a break from traveling for a couple weeks.  However, soon he will be traveling to Penn State to check out their university and soon after he returns from that trip we have to make a decision on where we want to go for grad school.  Wish us luck!

So, last night I finally made a project that I have had the supplies to make for a long time.  Ever since my baby girl was born, I have wanted something to keep and store all her cute hair bows and flower clips.  Well, I saw the idea for a holder here and thought it would be perfect!

First, take a thin piece of wood ( I got mine at Roberts, but I'm sure you can get them at any other craft or hardware store).

Next, take a piece of fabric ( I got a yard cut, and I had some left over) and hot glue it to the wood.  I glued all the corners down so that I got a nice crisp edge when it was all glued down.

Now, just fold over and glue the sides of the fabric.  (Don't ya just love my store ad newspaper in the back ground!?)

Choose the ribbon you wish to be on your holder, cut it to fit the board, and hot glue them to the back.

Lastly, cut a thick ribbon to hang your board with and hot glue that to the back.  Now, take your second board and hot glue that to the back of the board to make it look clean and neat.

And here is the finished product!  I had a lot of polka dot ribbon because that is the theme for my daughters bedroom.  What do you think?  I would LOVE to hear your comments!!

I have something super cute coming tomorrow, so stay tuned!  Have a fabulous Friday!  Happy crafting!!

This project was entered in a link-up on:

  1. Jalisa - I just love all your crafty projects. Thank you for the constant guilt-trip bc I haven't the time to do any of them, but I enjoy reading your success.

Just a plug for Penn State since I have a personal bias - it's a great school with a wonderful campus (just beware of the humidity in summer)

  2. Thanks! My husband and I are actually from Indiana, so we know about the humidity!! :) Its not something I would want to go back to though. :) Yeah, Penn State is the number one school for his program, so I guess we'll see.

  3. I love this! Thanks for the tip on folding down the corners to get a crisp edge. Great idea! And I love the store ad in the background :)

  4. I didn't know it was so easy to make one! I've seen them before, but they looked much more complecated. Thank you for this post! I will put it on my projects to do list, for sure. I will get to it soon!

  5. Hi Jalisa,

I am still having fun reading all of your older posts and this hair clip holder is really cute and a great idea for your daughter's room. I am going to try to make a smaller version for under my kitchen counter to use to hold my recipe card when I bake. I think I will use 2 pieces of ribbon on each end (make the size slightly bigger than my recipe cards and rectangular) and use a colorful clothespin to attach my recipe card. I am always looking for a way to prop my recipe card up when I bake some of my late Mom's recipes. This will work perfect! Thanks for the inspiration.

Sorry for the long post, and no need to publish if you feel it is too long.
